WORSHIP "Worship the Lord with gladness; come before God with joyful songs." - Psalm 100:2 We get a kick out of worshipping God at Christ Church - and do it in a wide variety of ways. Like a good restaurant, our "menu" features different flavors, styles and priorities - but all of them are centered around Holy Eucharist, the "main meal" of Christian worship. Here's the line-up: NOTE! SUMMER WORSHIP TIMES! During the summer, we worship every Sunday morning at 9 AM. Our 5 PM service remains at its regularly scheduled time! Sundays at 8 o'clock a.m. A traditional service of Holy Eucharist with very formal language ("Rite I," ), a sermon, but no music. Quiet and contemplative -- great for people whose spirituality craves stillness. Sundays at 10 o'clock a.m. This service is fairly traditional with sermon and hymns, using contemporary language ("Rite II,"), There are lots of children, with church school offered during this time. Sundays at 5 o'clock p.m. This one is anything but conventional - there is lots of music, accompanied by a band; the sermons are often dramas, everybody plays rhythm instruments, and the joy is infectious. This service is often serious, but never dull. There is church school for children during this service, and every week we eat supper together after church. Many families find it's a great way to wind down the week and be ready for the one to come. There is a social hour following each one of these services, and church school at 10 and 5. Holy Eucharist and Healing Service, Wednesdays at 7 o'clock p.m.. This simple evening service offers healing prayer with laying on of hands to any who come, for whatever you want prayer for - physical ailments, emotional distress, spiritual wounds. All requests are kept confidential. MUSIC Christ Church is a community that loves to sing, and in a wide variety of musical styles. Traditional Organ Music We have just had our organ completely rebuilt and the results are stunning. It has a clear and rich sound and is used primarily on Sunday mornings at 10, to support the congregation's singing of hymns and other music . "Bethany House Band" If your "heart music" is closer to what you hear on the radio, you'll like our 5 o'clock Sunday service. A 5-12 piece band provides the music - rock 'n' roll, jazz, blue grass and gospel. With a strong center on the keyboard, parishioners (and clergy) fill in with guitar, bass, synthesizer, drums and glorious vocal harmonies. The congregation keeps the beat going with rhythm instruments and the result is a joyful noise that lifts your heart and your spirits. Concerts We will continue our series of Organ Concerts this winter - Stay tuned for the next concert offered by an up and coming young organist. We are hoping to have some singer/song-writers come and play this year - and a possibly monthly "coffee house" with local talent. |
